Alocasia 'Tanderosa' (Jacklyn) – A Bold Beauty 🌿💚
The Alocasia 'Tanderosa' (also known as Jacklyn) is a truly striking variety of Alocasia that makes a bold statement with its large, arrow-shaped leaves and distinctive leaf veins. The dark green foliage contrasts beautifully with its light-colored veins, giving it a sculptural and almost mystical look. It’s an excellent choice for plant collectors and anyone looking to add a statement piece to their indoor garden.
🌿 Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It will tolerate lower light, but to encourage optimal growth and the striking appearance of the leaves, provide a location with plenty of indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but well-draining. Water when the top 1-2 inches of the soil are dry. Reduce watering in the winter months when the plant is dormant.
- Humidity: This Alocasia thrives in high humidity (50% or more). To achieve this, use a humidifier or place the plant on a pebble tray filled with water to maintain moisture in the air around it.
- Soil: A well-draining, airy mix is ideal, such as a blend of peat, perlite, and orchid bark. This ensures the roots can breathe and prevents waterlogging.
- Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Keep the plant away from cold drafts and avoid exposing it to temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
- Fertilizer: Feed your Alocasia 'Tanderosa' monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer to support healthy growth and vibrant foliage.
- Growth: It can reach around 2-3 feet in height, making it a lovely feature plant in your home or garden.
